The Full Moon in the evening on March 20th, is in Libra, sign of relationships, balance, justice, harmony. The Sun is conjunct the planetoid Chiron, also known as The Wounded Healer, suggesting we may be reminded of our wounds, but with a potent opportunity for healing and transformation. And with the Moon lighting up Libra, the wounds we tend to both derive from and heal within relationship.
At the time of the Full Moon, Mars and Venus, the Sun and Moon rulers at this lunation, are square each other, amplifying the potential for conflict and tension as well as resolution in and through relationship. Mars trine Pluto and sextile the North Node means Mars at this time is working for our evolution. And Venus sextile Jupiter brings sweetness, luck, and assistance.
Last night, I sat in my small home with a handful of students, reading and embodying each others’ charts, with the intention of helping each other heal. As we journeyed together into the depths of one souls’ chart, the sky darkened outside and the Full Moon rose and shone down on us through the window. And I felt like, this is Chiron, this is Libra, this is Aries, as we hold each other in this space of healing, as we support each other on this journey, as we delve into our wounds for the sake of understanding.
Such work takes such courage (Aries); to dig up the past, to face our pain. And it takes tenderness (Venus), and care (Libra) as we support each other, and ourselves, through the process. There is so much we learn in relationship (Libra), when others mirror to us our hidden truths, when our friends help us see ourselves, when interpersonal conflict helps us grow, and when we can hold each other through the trials of healing.
This is a path of healing the Self (Aries), and somewhere along the way, we see that the self is never alone. The self is defined by relationship. The self exists only because of the other. Some of us may walk alone for a time, only to realize we are hiding from the real work, which happens in and through relating.
And relating happens within as well as between selves: astrology suggests that we are multiple, that within the self, there are many parts (symbolized by the planets), working in greater or lesser harmony. And as we sit with our inner parts, and our eyes grow accustomed to that light, their contours emerge giving them definition, and we see.
And through this process, we can encourage the parts in conflict to dialogue with each other, so they may come to understand one another’s perspectives better, so that perhaps they create a third way, a creative solution that satisfies all.
So at this time when our inner Mars (fire, will, action, initiative) in Taurus (slow, steady, building, earthy) is at odds with our inner Venus (love, relationship, value, beauty) in Aquarius (unique, humanitarian, revolutionary), you might connect to these aspects and encourage them to relate and dialogue. Perhaps they discover a creative way forward that honours and integrates the diverse parts within you.
The Full Moon coincides with the Equinox; there is a doubling of the theme of balance; with the Full Moon in Libra, the scales, on the same day that the day and night are equal in length. Balance is fleeting; this moment represents a shift in the balance, as we turn the corner of the year into the time when the days begin to outweigh the nights.
The winter is a time when we go within and confront the darkness, and face our difficulties and trials, and feel it. And the winter is a necessary season. There is no coming back into the light, unless we first delve into the dark. And it’s because we go into the darkness that we can work with and through it, and find healing. It feels so significant that on this day when the balance shifts toward the light, the Sun and Chiron are conjunct; it is now as we emerge into spring time that we see that we’ve been on a healing journey all along, that we see how much work we did over the winter months.
At this time, I am so grateful to the souls with me on this healing journey. I am now more than ever, keenly aware that this is not a path I walk alone, nor would that be possible.
